Steam has a rule that you cannot wear anything except a towel-I like Levi's, red hankies etc and this place is full of so-so guys with no action-most watch some stuck up porn star beat off--it is the stupidest bathhouse I have ever been in.

Very good bathouse, much better on weekends

I enjoyed my time at Steam Portland on a Friday night. Lots of hot action, lots of guys looking for action. The staff was friendly and the facility was nice with a hot tub, steam room (cold shower inside), showers, internet access and an outdoor deck. On a Sunday night the place was pretty dead and the guys that were there didn't seem to be looking for action, I saw none. I would go on a Friday or Saturday. Maybe they could offer better prices on slower nights to get the people in.

We visited in May and thought by some of the reviews it was going to be a fun time. Well the place was boring, the guys were marginal and we found the facility to be lacking when comparing it to places we've visited around the country. If your just looking for a quickie, go early and run.

I come to Portland about once a year, and so I've been to Steam about 5 times since it opened, and it is without a doubt the nicest, cleanest, and definitely most stylish spa I've ever seen. That, combined with an array of every type of target of opportunity you could hope to find, make it hands-down my favorite club ever. Even one time when I was not feeling very interesting, I hadn't been in the place more than 5 minutes when I found myself being the object of a hot number's desires. I wish this place was in Seattle.

I actually use it for my overnight lodging. The sheets and pillows are like the Hilton the facility is like a first class hostel with very big clean hot tub and a huge rock steam room lol it is a hit or miss but I have had 3 different races in one night all under 20 with washboard abbs one time I woke up to a police officer off Dufy young hot and huge. Cocked and ready to go. The off streat parking is nice security is good. The staff are very friendly. Highly recommend this place to get out of the cold and get warmed up. Ask for out of Towners discount possibility of getting laid is Likly get your money's worth lol

Like the place less and less

Usually have a average time when I go there but today was a all time low. Felt the staff were more into themselves than attending the desk or club upkeep and the clients there were less than friendly. Took a risk on a Sunday and got a clear message it was not the place to be.

This was my first time to a bathhouse, though now I've been to several others living on the coast had it's limitation for a late in life coming outer(at the time, 51). A friend suggested Steam for some fun. I found the place clean, the staff cold but not rude, didn't really feel welcome, but then I didn't care either. The customers varied in age a lot from some guy who looked too young to have a driver's license to some guys who were well into their years. All of the customers seemed friendly. the place was laid back, shower room clean with hand helds which was nice. The hot tub was warm and the video screen was big. I hooked up with a guy and had a lot of fun with him. It was a Monday afternoon so there wasn't a lot of guys there. It was an okay place for my first BH experience.

Needs competition

I also showed up one night not knowing it was "Freshman Night" and was turned away. I decided to go on the website and I wrote a very respectful email indicating that i had been coming to Steam for years and suggested that this notion of having special nights just for a certain group of customers was not a great idea, normally gay clubs try to attract a diverse crowd. There are other venues in the country that have special nights where they offer discounts for younger guys (there is even one in Vegas that offers free admission to guys 18-25 on Monday nights, they bring in a DJ and the place is hopping with a huge crowd of all ages becasue they welcome everybody). Anyway, my email offering the feedback of a long time customers was responded to by an angry rant from the manager. He basically accused me of being a troll "who can't take no for an answer" and said I just "feel sorry for myself". NONE of this crap is true and I was just offering my suggestions and i was so pissed at this unecessary rant that I've never been back. Whether you are under 29 or over, my advice is avoid this place. This place has no sexual energy, the management plays awful "new age" music that puts you to sleep, and the big flat screen TV in the locker room is tuned to Logo, so "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is usually playing as gay men undress together..,yeah, thats hot. If you make any suggestions, instead of thankiing you for your input, they insult you. If no one goes, eventually someone that is responsive to the community will open competition. I'll wait until then!

Steam Portland is an relaxing place. I go there about once a month and really enjoy the facilities. I would suggest checking their website before going to ensure it is not on a special night like "Freshmen night" which is for under 29 only and only held once a month. When I went a couple of days ago it seemed like there was a newer staff and they were very friendly and kind. For the price you can't beat it although I think they could get more people by changing the layout a little like a larger maze area and a lower, more comfortable video lounge seating arrangement. I also know that the place has to keep certain standards to remain open and therefore it works closely with the health department. More middle aged men than younger men or older men. Have fun and be safe!!

Always was a fan, but not anymore. I came in from out of town, expecting a steam/hottub, but instead I'm told no one under 29 allowed until after 12:00 midnight. Any business purporting to be a 24/7 facility, yet closed to a large segment of the population, should not expect to find many repeat customers. I've been here many times, but wonder if I'll ever bother again after this. Waste of time & gas. Don't expect me back soon. Too bad this is the only tubs in town now- guess lack of competition results in this.

im 25 hispanic vgl went to steam this last weekend, Had a horrid time this place was so boring i fell asleep in the steam room. also this place was unsafe I slipped on something slippery that was on the floor "catch my drift" and landed right on my ass! the hot tub consisted of 30% cum and the men that went there in general were really shady characters, This guy came out to talk to me as I was leaving steam and wanted to know if i was gonna go party with "tina and mary" seriously? This place is wack and full of drug addicts. I went two nights in a row and the second time I was only there for about an hour and left. I bought a 6 month membership that I will never use again and I visit portland quite often but will never return if there was a way to get my money back I would certainly take it with no problem! Which BTW between both nights i spent $80 I could have bought a trick with that and had a better time! I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are into this type of behavior. From what I heard about the guys in Portland there used to be another place that was better than this I guess it was a little dirtier but people went to do thier business there and not looking around for a husband. Get with the program steam! update your place and make it a better and lower your cost i seriouly could have went and sat in the hottub at my hotel for free! P.S. im sure my friend that went there as well will also write a review about his experience as well ! which wasn't very good either.

I have no idea what these previous reviews are talking about - 1st of all, I agree the place is nice, clean, well run, etc. But, I did not find the place slow or boring or any of that. I'm 68 yrs old, in reasonable shape, and a total top. On Wednesday aftn (6/16/10), on Friday early evg (6/17/10), and on Monday aftn (6/21/10), I had sex with 3/2/3 guys respectively, and these guys were very hot - young, great shape, willing. I had a room and didn't play in the dark room or steam room where there were other things going on. My partner (also a total top) had similar experiences at the same time at the club - and, not with the same guys btw. I'd recommend this place to anyone. The variety of men here is better than many other places I've been (all over the US and abroad).

back again when visiting family in Oregon and I find the place as unpleasant as before...I have to wonder if the 5* glowing reviews are by staff (who actually wouldn't seem bothered to lift a finger to log on here) or the owners and/or their friends....the place just doesn't live up to it's nice location and layout. Too bad. Maybe some competition from what i hear is a new place in town will give them a well needed wake up call!

This is the best place to find man sex in Portland! I had been waiting for this place to open from the first day I heard about it, and when I first walked in, I was completely sold on the place. It is BY FAR the nicest bathhouse I have ever been to, and it's totally new new new and state of the art. The sex that goes on there is great, and the place is nice and clean enough to actually sleep in overnight, which I twice already. It gets a mix of Caucasians, Latinos, black men, Asians, daddies, bears, and everything in between. There are so many hot men there that there seems to be enough for everyone. I go there about once a week, and I will continue to go. I have not been to the other place in town since this place opened.

This place is about as good as Steamworks and the Watergarden in Northern California. They have an impressive new facility with all the bells and whistles to make it a great place to go for relaxation and sex with men. I was there on a Saturday afternoon, and I had to wait in line to get in, but when I finally got out of my clothes and into a towel, it was worth the wait. I had two hot men within the first 1/2 hour, and then I made out again with a hot man who was showering. I had more dick during that afternoon than I can recall every having.
