Manny Layers (Manny Sáenz-Reyes) is a Queer, Chicano, sound and performance artist from downtown Las Vegas. His art explores identity, and the tension between masculine and feminine cultural ideals. Manny has performed at the Portland Art Museumt, DISJECTA, PNCA - Pacific Northwest College of Art, The Hollywood Theatre, and Risk/Reward in Portland; Artists' Television Access and San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery in San Francisco; and pehrspace and The Smell in Los Angeles. Manny is a founding member of post-punk quartet Atole, PSU’s student organization Time Arts Club, and Portland’s longest-running showcase for local electronic music, Supernature Pdx. He participated in Signal Fire Artist Residency, is a recipient of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and has curated a variety of arts festivals, such as Tropix and Superfest! Manny studied film, theater and art at Hunter College in NYC and is currently an MFA candidate for Contemporary Art Practice at Portland State University School of Art + Design.
The Outfits are a Queer, Portland, artist duo interested in using sound, fashion & performance to break down masculine & feminine cultural ideals. Leif J. Lee and Manny Layers met at a MFA camping retreat in Arizona called Signal Fire, spring break of 2014. They learned of each other's passion to make Queer interventionist art, and began collaborating at a Portland group art show at Surplus Space, entitled "Roxxy Dazzles".
New Romancer is a solo, experimental, electronic, sound project by Manny Layers. They are interested in immersive soundscapes, DIY technology, and Queer Futurity.
