Hosted by Portland’s premier drag clown Carla Rossi, this latest edition of QUEER HORROR opens with a new Kruegerian short film designed to get you squirming for one of the most homoerotic slasher sequels of all time. SPECIAL GUEST PERFORMANCE BY: MENORAH (Michael Horwitz) Directed by John Sholder, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 follows teenager Jesse (played by gay actor Mark Patton) as he moves with his family into the old Elm Street house from the first film. Jesse starts waking from nightmares of a man with a burned face and knives for fingers until he finds himself possessed to continue Freddy Krueger’s bloody legacy of vengeance on the townspeople that burned him alive. Co-starring genre legend Clu Gulager and Meryl Streep-lookalike Kim Myers, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 is remarkable not only for its unabashedly homoerotic subtext but also for its odd twist on an Elm Street sequel – in which the filmmakers were yet to decode Freddy Krueger’s popularity and didn’t know just what formula to apply to the franchise.
