May 2016 Brown Brunch - One Year Revamp Celebration

Please feel free to invite your QTPoC friends!!! WHAT IS BROWN BRUNCH? Brown Brunch is an incredible, casual space, where Trans and Queer People of Color (QTPoC) come together. We share stories, laugh, and spark great friendships. Magic happens here! Brown Brunch is potluck style. There is always plenty of food for everyone. So, bring a dish and come share time with this incredible community. Brown Brunch is super rad and chill. There's no specific agenda other than CONNECTION. Brown Brunch is a dry and sober event. Brown Brunch is a mixed aged and your children are always welcomed. PLEASE THIS PARAGRAPH ***This space is for queer and trans people of color only.*** There are plenty of ally-inclusive events around Portland, but this one is not one of them. We ask that you show your alliance by respecting this much-needed and treasured space for people struggling to create community with fellow QTPoC in predominantly straight, white Portland. Thanks! ABOUT THE LOCATION In May 2015, we held our first Brown Brunch after a very long wait, welcoming a new generation of trans and queer people of color to the community and strengthening it with their awesomeness. We [awkwardly] met at Overlook Park, unsure as to who would actually show up and what it would be like. It was a hit from very beginning!!! In celebration of this wonderful year, we'll be meeting at Overlook Park again! This time, better prepared and with even bigger smiles. ACCESSIBILITY Overlook Park is located just off the Yellow MAX line and has street parking. There are plenty of paved walkways and public restrooms. We ask that every one label their foods! CAN I BRING MY *WHITE* PARTNER? You may be wondering, if your white partner can attend. Well, no. Adding a white person to the event changes that chemistry of the space we’re creating. We REALLY want you to join us and help us create a supportive community for QTPoC. Please know that we typically hang out together afterwards at events that are not BB-related. White partners and close friends are totally welcomed to join us for that. In fact, you’ll see that many regular attendees also have white partners. :) CAN MY WHITE OR HALF-WHITE CHILDREN COME? Of course.
