Self Care & Community Care Night for Lgbtq+

We want to invite the LGBTQ+ community to Anarres Infoshop & Community Space for a night of self care and community care. 7-10pm All ages // wheelchair accessible NO ALCOHOL YES POTLUCK If you can, bring food or ask restaurants/grocery stores to donate. If you can, bring things that help you with self care and de-stressing that you want to do or share with others. For example, writing, art or creative projects, listening to music, skills you want to share like candle or book making or an activity you want to share (your favorite puzzle, a button maker) or just bring yourself <3 We recognize that self care looks different to each person and so the space will be open for LGBTQ+ folks to use in any way. From 8-9pm we will use the back room for a moment of silence and an opportunity for folks to share words (poetry, writing, song, stories, ideas) without interruption. We ask for white LGBTQ+ folks to please be aware of how much space and time they are taking up and prioritize QTPOC (Queer & Trans People of Color) voices. This space is for listening to QTPOC, for supporting and uplifting marginalized voices. If you do not want to participate in the moment of silence and sharing, the front bookstore area will be a space where people can be during this time. We want to make it clear that THIS SPACE IS FOR: * LGBTQ+ people We want to specifically invite LGBTQ+ People of Color, chronically ill/disabled LGBTQ+ folks, LGBTQ+ youth and LGBTQ+ folks of all ages, * Healing, self care, community care, respect, celebrating, mourning, creating, existing with other LGBTQ+ folks * Sharing food (potluck!), stories, emotions, ideas, projects, skill shares, resources, consensual hugs, respect, support * Actively listening, uplifting and supporting marginalized voices -This space is NOT for straight cis folks if you want to support this event and the LGBTQ+ community you can support by donating food, resources, creative/self care/de-stressing things You can drop anything off at Marrow PDX between Noon-7pm on Wednesday, June 22 before the event or we can arrange another time. Please respect that this is a space intentionally for LGBTQ+ folks. -This space is NOT for ANY oppressive language or behavior. Oppressive language and behavior will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the space. This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism, fat shaming or all other oppressions. * * * * We want to announce that Anarres Infoshop will be creating a monthly LGBTQ+ open space event and hope to get feedback from this event on Wednesday. We are also interested in creating a monthly QTPOC event (closed to white LGBTQ+ and people who do not identify as LGBTQ+) * * * * Anarres as a space and collective is dedicated to supporting and uplifting marginalized voices and creating safe(r) spaces and will do everything we can to make Anarres a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ folks, POC, and QTPOC. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (In LGBTQ+ the "+" is an abbreviated way to refer to folks who have gender identities or sexual orientations that differ from the heterosexual and cisgender majority that often don’t get included in the LGBTQ acronym)
