*Games and crowning of a Champion!*
Come join the Portland Druids of Columbia Grove as we honor the champion Lugh and his foster mother Tailtiu with both ritual, song and games!
Lughnasadh, which means "commemoration of Lugh" in Irish Celtic, is also a celebration of Lugh's foster mother, Tailtiu. Lugh realizes, as we should, that our success does not come from is alone but also from the ones who cleared the way for us. Lugh dedicated his feast to honor her. We recognize his sacrifice and his success. Join us as we honor the sun God, Lugh, as he honored his foster mother before him. Let us celebrate the beginning of the descent of the sun into the darkness of winter. Let us offer the first fruits of our labor and adjust our growth so we may have plenty to sustain us during our descent into the dark.
We assemble at 3:30pm, and ritual begins at 4p sharp & lasts around an hour and a half, followed by food and fellowship afterwards. We do not close a circle, so you are allowed to arrive late; we simply ask that you join us quietly.
We'd love for you to bring a dish to share in one of our famous potlucks, but no one will be turned away from the table for lack of contribution; you'll find that our spread is always impressive and delicious, and many food sensitivities are regularly taken into account. Also, if you wish, feel free to bring a personal offering for any Ancestor, Nature Spirit, or Deity of your choosing to offer during our Praise Offerings. We welcome you to pray at our good fire!
All are welcomed to join the fun and festivities. No experience in Druidry required! Everyone is encouraged to take part in the merriment.
We will also be selling offerings that would be appropriate to this ritual.
WHERE: WHUUF 8470 SW Oleson Rd, Portland.
Please look out for the Orange Cones on the sidewalk and a sign that says "ritual this way" it's an easy place to miss.
