Jim Mains will host the competition beginning at 6 pm. The winner will be crowned Vancouver Bull Riding Champion 2016.
The Take No Bull Challenge presented by Waste Connections will be broadcast live inside the theater beginning at 6 pm. Doors open at 6 pm and Hello Vancouver kicks off at 7 pm.
And Now For Our Guests....
School of Piano Technology for the Blind -This school, located in Vancouver, is the only school in the world dedicated to teaching piano technology to blind and visually-impaired students. Since 1949, students from around the world have benefited from our focused and individualized instruction that prepares them for careers and independence. Staff and board members will join us to talk about the “Keys to the City” event, August 5-14, where handpainted pianos are stationed all over town, in public places, for community members to play. We’ll have one of the pianos on-site! www.pianotuningschool.org
Smokey Bear! - Joined by US Forest Service. Sure, our weather this Spring and in the early part of July might have indicated otherwise, but this is the time of year when we’ve really got to watch out for forest fires. It’s going to get hot, and dry, so let’s be smart and prepared!
Beer in Vancouver! - Craft beer has taken off in Vancouver (actually, all over Clark County), and we are going to speak with four of the local brewers in town, as well as the creator of the Brewcouver passport. Join Michael Perozzo from ZzoomMedia, and partners from Heathen Brewing, Fortside, Ghost Runners, and Loowit. The Kiggins will have beer from these brewers on tap that night, and we’ll have a fun blindfolded taste test for them, too!
Finale for the NO BULL Challenge - Oh yeah -- did we mention that we are CLOSING THE STREET AND HAVING A BLOCK PARTY WITH A MECHANICAL BULL BEFORE THE SHOW? You know, just like any old Wednesday. Thanks to Waste Connections for sponsoring the first-ever Take No Bull Challenge at Hello Vancouver! Before the show, local celebrities will compete to see who will make it to the finals for the bull-riding contest. And then, at the end of the show, we’ll find out who the winner is!
More details:
Hello Vancouver!
Get out for the night and join us for the live talk show that looks at life as we live it here in this incredible corner of Southwest Washington!
COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS
Let’s change the dialogue … by actually having a dialogue. Every episode, we’ll talk about a community issue that’s flying under the radar and could use a little more attention. What’s really going on? Who is involved and what are they doing? What do we, as community members, need to know?
FUN AND DIFFERENT
This town is just crawling with interesting people doing interesting things. The second segment of each episode of Hello Vancouver features something light and fun -- entertainment and activities you might not even know we had here!
THE BEST BANDS AROUND
Seriously, we have some incredible bands here in Vancouver and Clark County. Every episode, we’ll feature a local band or musical act as our musical guest. They’ll play a couple of songs for us, chat with the host, and tell us what they’re working on.
*Ahem* They’ll also have merchandise available for sale in the lobby. You know. If you’re so inclined.
HOME GROWN HEADLINERS
Who doesn’t love a local boy (or girl) makes good story? We meet some phenomenal talent here in Vancouver and Clark County, with performers, writers, designers, business owners, and DO-ers who are reaching beyond our borders and having a broader impact.
SURPRISE VISITS
You never know who’s going to stop by! At one show, Sheriff Garry Lucas dropped by to make a special announcement (and handcuff Temple). Elvis and booty songs made an appearance in September, and Santa led a kazoo sing-along in November. We’d give you a hint about this show, but honestly we don’t even know what’s going to happen!
Doors open at 6pm. Preshow starts at 6:45 pm. Hello Vancouver Show starts at 7:30 pm.
The bar and concession stands will be open -- and since the show is FREE, there’s no reason you can’t support our host, the Kiggins Theatre, by grabbing a glass of wine or some popcorn. Come on down to the Kiggins for the live talk show that looks at life as we live it here in this incredible corner of Southwest Washington!
