Dir. Jodi Darby, Julie Perini & Erin Yanke (2012); 84min
October 22nd is the National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality. A benefit for local organizations resisting police brutality hosted by Dont Shoot Portland & PSUSU - the Portland State University Student Union, Arresting Power sheds light on a 50 year history of violence in the city you currently call your home.
The panel will include leaders of local organizations that are demanding structural changes in Portland and metro areas. These groups are protecting their communities, creating alternatives to policing, highlighting the contradictions between policing rhetoric and practices and being on the front lines of the Black Lives Matter struggle.
Thanks to the PSU's Speakers Board for their generous support of this event.
