Special
We were on a long road trip; had stopped many places. When we arrived in Portland we looked on the internet for a place to go. We found that Hobo's was within a close walk of our downtown hotel. Upon arriving, our first impression was that the atmosphere was great. We are mmmmmm sorta very close BF's (not partners yet). There were no plans for any specially romantic evening, but, we had a very enjoyable, just correctly romantic dinner. The food was above average for any gay restaurant I have been in. The pianist managed to play a piece that was special to my friend. We went back the next nite and had just as good an experience. A great gay restaurant!
Great drinks, good service, bad food!
I love the Tuesday 2-4-1 Entree Special however the food is overdone and dry. Keep to the pasta dishes you can't burn that! I don't think I will ever eat there again, but I certainly will DRINK! The cocktails are great!
Great food!
Daily chef's special can be delightful. Standard fare is done right and the wait staff are always friendly and attentive.
Good Spot for a Quiet Drink
Hobo's is a great place to go if you're looking to have dinner or some quiet drinks. I highly recommend the baked brie. :) Usually there is a piano player, no loud music, so you can actually have a conversation with your date. The clientele is mostly upscale, older than the dance club set, and queer except for the occasional bachelorette party (ugh).
