At the beginning of the New Year, Q Center's Interim Board convened and empowered a grassroots Community Committee to assess and develop much-needed opportunities for community dialog, reflection, and planning based on the following key questions:
*What has happened at Q Center? How did we get to where we are now?
*What is happening now? What is the state of things at Q Center and what does it mean for community space, support, and services at Q Center?
*What does the next phase of Q Center look like? What do we envision for a community center that reflects and serves our diverse community today?
*How do we get there? Assuming that Q Center is a vital community resource, what can we do to make it sustainable, now and for the future?
Please be part of the conversation! Q Center's first town hall is scheduled for Feb 1 from 1-3pm at Q Center.
*******************
*Q Center is wheelchair accessible and has gender-neutral bathrooms. The town hall will include ASL interpretation and visual materials will be available in large font. Please let us know if there's anything else you need to make this event more accessible for you: leadership@pdxqcenter.org.
*Note that Q Center has a capacity limit of 150 people. We encourage you to come early if you want to participate!
*******************
Facilitated by John Ashford, Emily Pittmann Newberry, and Sandy Bacharach from Resolutions Northwest (http://resolutionsnorthwest.org/), the focus of this town hall is Restorative Justice and Info Sharing: We will talk about what has happened at Q Center and whom it has effected – especially over the past few years and currently – and also gain some collective clarity about what is happening at Q Center now and how we might respond as a community.
Members of the Q Center Interim Board and Advisory Committee will be present to listen, offer feedback and reflection, and provide a financial update about what is happening at Q Center now. We know that many in our communities want and need this information!
Please also take a few minutes to respond to the Q Center Community Survey. Tell the interim board about your experiences at Q Center and what you hope will change or stay the same. General results and highlights will be reported back in an upcoming town hall: http://tinyurl.com/ndjetw4.
