Gay Portland, OR - Positively Progressive
Although it lacks a specifically gay district, Portland makes up for that with all that it does have to offer, everywhere. If you like great art, cool people, good food, shopping and nature, gay Portland will be a satisfying destination. Portland is a laid back big city that's still got that small-town feel to... More

RustyFender answered "I'm considering relocation to Portland, OR from near St. Louis, MO. Has anyone lived in Portla..."When are you thinking of going to Portland? I'm planning on heading to Portland by car in the next few weeks. I'll have room for one rideshare and some luggage. I'm in north east Iowa. After moving home to Iowa for two years after living in San Francisco for 10 years, I gotta get the hell outta here before I go insane. The only thing making me miserable is Iowa, lol.

Hey...and thanks. I'm planning to head West on or before February 15th. A buddy of mine is coming here from Florida and we planned riding together. So, the transportation is handled, but it would be cool to meet along the way, if you want. Do you have a job or place secured in Portland yet? We've found a couple apartments we like; otherwise, we're taking enough money to hold us over until we find a job. -
I've got the job part covered. I get social security disability every month because of neck and back injury I got at work 5 years ago. I've got a buddy in Salem that I work with selling vintage cars and car parts as well. Right now, I'm trying to sell stuff so that I don't have to move it and so I'll have some "move-in" cash. Otherwise, I'm ready to take off any day, I just don't have a place to crash when I get to Oregon. My buddy is not gay, so I don't know any gay folks there yet. -
I'll get with my friend about a third going in on a place, then get back with ya. I don't see a problem, but we'd want to meet you first of course. If we're head'in there at the same times, we should plan meeting and go from there. My num is 573.856.4910 and best to get me btwn 10am and 5pm.

Bathhouses & Sex Clubs in Portlandsafe clean convenient multi usesI actually use it for my overnight lodging. The sheets and pillows are like the Hilton the facility is like a first class hostel with very big clean hot tub and a huge rock steam room lol it is a hit or miss but I have had 3 different races in one night all under 20 with washboard abbs one time I woke up to a police officer off Dufy young hot and huge. Cocked and ready to go. The off streat parking is nice security is good. The staff are very friendly. Highly recommend this place to get out of the cold and get warmed up. Ask for out of Towners discount possibility of getting laid is Likly get your money's worth lol

I'm thinking West Coast overall has to be more gay friendly than the Midwest, but we'll see. I will definitely visit first and appreciate that advice; we're getting a month to month apt in order for that. St. Louis doesn't really have a gayborhood either, but that isn't important to me, as I don't want segregation...I've lived in the South already...LOL! Thanks again!!!

I have lived her since 1983 and have watched Portland become a great city. Coming from St. Louis it will feel small but it has a great vibe and it's easy to get around. We don't have a single gayborhood anymore as the LGBT community is present in all our interesting, diverse neighborhoods. Give it try - you just may love it here.

By open & inclusive, what do you mean? The gay scene here is quaint, but overall the city is pretty open-minded. Plenty of gay bars, and lots of bars on the west side will have gay nights. Probably worth visiting first, though!
